this collection came together in early 2022, just after the birth of my son ellison. many of the initial sketches and grooves were made while bouncing him to sleep, with deeper edits made while he napped. the initial goal was something i called "experimental boom bap," which is rooted in my love for the sound of late '80s hip-hop while embracing the sonic explorations of groups like yesterdays new quintet and swooping duck.

beat making as a meditative process has been paramount to the creation of these tracks. it's the one place where the world goes silent, and we can puzzle piece bits of found audio into something new, surprising and satisfying.
